On September 17th at approximately 11:30 AM, I met by phone with Barbara Ann Heegan, long-time Oneonta resident and President and CEO of the Otsego Chamber of Commerce. What a wonderful connection we made! Barbara's experience in economic and community development is impressive -- before assuming her current role, she was previously president of the Oneonta Rotary, an officer of the Oneonta Elks Lodge, a board member of United Way for Delaware and Otsego Counties, and an appointee to the Human Rights and Community Relations Commission of the city of Oneonta. She's a graduate of the State University College at Oneonta with a BS in child and family studies and has an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Barbara and I spoke of many challenges and opportunities facing Oneonta residents and businesses -- but first things first, we formalized our donation on behalf of SUNY Oneonta parents and friends. Drumroll please!
Rounding to a fun number I trust we can share with pride, MULTIRACHEL LLC has donated $321 from the first week's SHOPONE.LOVE sales to the Otsego Chamber of Commerce's "Survive and Thrive" initiative.
More details on future collaborations with Ms. Heegan and the future of charitable donations from SHOPONE.LOVE to come. In the meantime, please check out the following news story on SUNY Oneonta parents' fundraising efforts (I am far from alone in this movement!): Fellow Long Islander and Oneonta parent Gabbie Brink and I were written up on September 8th in Oneonta's The Daily Star.
